Frequently Asked Questions
- What are the benefits of SS-13/WA-13 soil additives over traditional liner choices?
- Can be used with a wide range of soil types.
- Reduces soil permeabilities by one to three orders of magnitude.
- Reduces surface cracking of soils caused by moisture and temperature changes.
- Reduces the amount of effort required to achieve maximum soil density.
- Increases p.s.i. and shear strength of soil.
- Very easy to install (no special equipment required).
- Eliminates or greatly reduces the need for imported soils.
- Product is easily stored at project site in bulk tanks or drums.
- Is SS-13 safe?
Yes, SS-13 treated soil liners have been used in a wide variety of projects such as municipal solid waste (landfill) facilities, waterskiing lakes, mining operations, irrigation lakes, sewage lagoons, etc.
- Is SS-13 durable?
Yes, SS-13 treated soil liners have been used in a wide variety of projects such as municipal solid waste (landfill) facilities, waterskiing lakes, mining operations, irrigation lakes, sewage lagoons, etc.
- Who installs SS-13 treated soil liners?
Since our products and methods don’t require special equipment and extra manpower, most licensed grading contractors already have the recommended equipment and can easily install SS-13 liners with minimal instruction from our onsite technicians. Chances are that whoever dug the lake can also seal the lake with SS-13. In addition, we can assist you in the selection of an acceptable installer.
- Can SS-13 be used in an existing lake to reduce seepage?
Yes, under many circumstances it can be used to reduce seepage by a substantial amount.
- How long does a SS-13 treated soil liner last?
If the project is properly engineered and the liner is installed correctly, then it will last a very long time. The exact lifespan of SS-13 liners are not known…the first ones ever installed are over 30 years old and many of those are performing better now than when they were first installed.
- How do I know if my site soil will improve with SS-13?
A representative soil sample (or series of samples) can easily be tested with SS-13 treatment by standard laboratory testing techniques to demonstrate performance with excellent accuracy.
- My project is not located in Arizona, can you still help me?
Yes, we have completed many projects all over North America. We have even shipped large amounts of materials over seas to remote places all over the world.
